“Frida: Unbreakable”
Opening of “Frida: Unbreakable” Immersive Exhibition at Lumiere Hall, One of Budapest’s Leading Multimedia Galleries
Hungary, Budapest – Starting from February 21, 2025, a new immersive exhibition opens in the heart of the city, at Piarista Köz 1, the same location where the giant moon installation was previously displayed. This unique experience takes visitors into the universe of Frida Kahlo, showcasing over 70 works of art, complemented by photographs and an information space that reveals exciting and lesser-known details related to the artworks.
With the help of the most advanced technology, visitors can travel back in time through the diaries and memories of Frida Kahlo and her husband, Diego Rivera, immersing themselves in the artist’s fascinating world. The exhibition highlights the painter’s tragic fate, which led to a unique artistic expression – something no one else in the world has ever created. It also explores her complicated relationship with her husband, her rise as a feminist art icon, her dreams of motherhood, her commitment to Mexican identity, her success and recognition, her relationship with the surrealists, and her communist views. The exhibition also presents the symbol of death, which accompanied her throughout her life.
The over 5-meter-high canvases, high-performance projectors, and deep sound effects help visitors gain a deeper understanding of the artist’s work, allowing them to feel the joys and sufferings reflected in her creations.
The exhibition is hosted at Lumiere Hall, a multifunctional venue that also hosts concerts, social events, performances, educational programs, and festivals.
In March 2025, art historian Adriána Lantos, an expert on Frida Kahlo's work, will give a lecture related to the exhibition. For the latest updates, follow the official website.
